Telephone:
Just Say No!
Just Say No!
No one will EVER call you on the telephone with a legitimate deal for an investment or financial opportunity of any kind. Ever! The same goes for telephone con artists posing as representatives from your bank, phone company, police department, state or foreign lottery or anyone else who wants you to send money and/or provide personal information over the phone. And this includes the Internal Revenue Service as well. Here's a transcript of a recording I get several times a year on my home phone. Threatening? Yes. Legitimate? No.
"Just to notify you that the IRS has issued an arrest warrant against you. Right now you and your physical property are both being monitored. It's very important that I hear back from you as soon as possible before we proceed with legal action against you. My direct call back number is #717-276-XXXX. Thank you."
The IRS knows where I live. If they ever have a problem with my tax return, they will mail a notification to me at my home address. Don't fall for these scams. When they call, Just Say No!

Don't Let "Porch Pirates" Steal Your Package
Don't Let "Porch Pirates" Steal Your Package
Here are a few quick tips to help prevent porch pirates from doing their holiday shopping on your front porch or doorstep.
- Delivery Address: Have your package delivered to an attended address - maybe your office or a friend's house.
- In-Store Pick Up: If you ordered online, the retailer may give you the option for pick up at one of their local stores.
- Require a Signature: If offered, require the shipping company to get a signature for the package to be released.
- Insurance: While insuring your package won't prevent theft, it will replace the value of the contents.
- Delivery to Shipping Company: Many shippers like UPS will allow you to have your package delivered to one of their local shipping centers for pick up.
- Notification Service: Most major shippers have a service for tracking the progress of your package by email or text message. This way you can make arrangements to be home when your package is delivered. Otherwise, ask a friend to drop by and pick it up for you.
