Volunteer Opportunities
There are countless opportunities to pay it forward to help make Delaware a better place to live, work, go to school and raise a family. Here’s a short list to get you started. Also, check out the link to Volunteer Delaware 50+ for a more comprehensive list of ways to get involved.
Service Clubs
Community service clubs like Rotary and Lions are scattered all over Sussex County. So if you’re looking for a great way to quickly immerse yourself in your community, Rotary or Lions is a great place to start. I joined the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club because it offered me the opportunity to “follow through on my good intentions” with existing charitable programs I could just plug into. It could be a member of the military or police, fire or other first responders who put their lives on the line for us every day. It could also be a teacher, coach, mentor, community leader or anyone else who has been a hero in your life. Each of the 500 flags on display for the two weeks surrounding the long Memorial Day weekend in front of Cape Henlopen High School are adorned with a medallion bearing your name as sponsor and the name your hero.
