Sussex Christmas Caroling on the Circle
Join Santa Clause and your neighbors on the circle in downtown Georgetown (across from historic Sussex County Courthouse) in early December for old fashioned Christmas Caroling. This annual holiday songfest usually begins at 6:30 p.m. and has been a tradition for over 35 years The event doubles as a food drive for hungry families in Sussex County, so don't forget to bring canned goods or other non-perishable food items to help stock local food pantries. Immediately following the festivities, the Georgetown Fire Company serves hot chocolate and cookies to attendees one block south at the firehouse. For more information call #302-855-7700. Miracle on 34th Street
Don't miss Kris Kringle's annual visit to Georgetown's Superior Court. Here's how the Cape Gazette reported the event in its December 25, 2016 edition: "The Superior Courtroom in Georgetown was filled with hopeful local elementary school students, Dec. 13 for the competency hearing of Kris Kringle. For 12 years, the week before Christmas, the Delaware court system performs the courtroom scene in Miracle on 34th Street. Richard Herrmann, hatched the idea to perform the courtroom scene in the movie for elementary students. With three performances a day for three days, the group travels to all three counties in Delaware."
"The Honorable Jane Brady acts as judge, Charles Coates is the prosecutor, Richard Herrmann represents Kris Kringle who is played by Dan Slipetsky, Robert Gibbs performs the role of Dr. Herbert Westover, Connie Magee gave testimony as Mrs. Macy, Maeve McDonnell sparkled as Maeve Coates, and Sean O’Sullivan as postmaster delivered the final exhibits that ultimately gets the case dismissed."
